Build your own Server for Web, Email, FileSharing, and even the Internet of Things

Mostly, this is for my own reference in case I need to do it again. And I probably will. But it will also help you build a complete home server.

 Project Background and History

If you've been around the net for any time at all you'll be familiar with terms like blog/vlog, wiki, news, forums, etc. You've probably visited a few portals, online news sites, photo sharing sites, maybe even spent too much time in a few of the popular topical forums. And if you're a tinkerer like me, you've probably hit a few popular sites and thought "I could do that if I only knew how to get started..."

Well, this is one way to get started; it's up to you to convince your friends it's the coolest thing they've ever seen.

And other ideas to extend the functionality
"We who live in free market societies believe that growth, prosperity and ultimately human fulfillment, are created from the bottom up, not the government down. Only when the human spirit is allowed to invent and create, only when individuals are given a personal stake in deciding economic policies and benefiting from their success---only then can societies remain economically alive, dynamic, progressive, and free. Trust the people. This is the one irrefutable lesson of the entire postwar period, contradicting the notion that rigid government controls are essential to economic development."
- Ronald Reagan
